Smiley Biryani for Smiling friends, Bring a smile to your taste

‘Biryani’ is a famous dish of Asia and East. It has a very unique and delicious taste and commonly served on main family occasions including family home parties, wedding functions, birthdays ect. ‘Biryani’ is a combination of boiled rice with the meat curry. You can choose from chicken, beef or Lamb meat according to your taste and availability.

You can easily cook ‘Biryani’ in just few steps. Following the step is the main part of this dish. Let’s start to put ingredients together and make a ‘Smiley Friendly Lamb Biryani’.

Ingredients:

Lamb Meat:        1 kg

White Rice:         1kg

Onion:                    4 medium size

Tomato:                4 medium size

Ginger/garlic paste:          3 tea spoon

yogurt:               4 table spoon

Cooking oil:                         half cup

Spices

Salt and red chilly             to taste (1 tea spoon each is enough but you can add more or less to your taste)

Turmeric Powder             half   teaspoon

Dry coriander powder    3 tea spoon  

Black pepper                      half tea spoon

Step 1:

Peel and cut onions in small pieces. Take a deep bottomed pan and fry onion to dark brown. Add Lamb meat in onions and fry for 10 minutes.  

Step 2:

Chop tomatoes and add in the meat. Add all spices at the same time with tomatoes. Fry them all for 10 minutes. When tomato and all spices are mixed, close the lid and leave it for 20 minutes on slow fire. This is the time to cook the meat properly.

Step 3:

In the mean time in a separate pot boil water. When water started boiling add the rice. Let the rice boiling for about 10-12 minutes. Make sure you do not boil them fully. Only boil rice about 75%. Once the rice are boiled, drain the water.

Step 4:

Check the meat in about 20 minutes if it cooked.

Add yogurt and mix it with meat gravy properly.

Fry meat for about 10 minutes with the yogurt until the gravy is ready .

Final Steps:

In a deep pan, apply some oil at the bottom on the pan (use oil from the ready meat gravy).

Add first layer of rice. The layer should not be very thick.

Add first layer of Meat gravy. Use half of the ready cooked gravy for the first layer

Apply second layer of rice on top of meat. Make sure you have covered all the meat.

Now apply last layer of the remaining rice on top of meat.

Cover the pan with kitchen foil and close the Lid tightly. Be sure that no much steam coming out from the pot.

Close the deep pan lid, and leave it for 15 minutes on a very very slow fire. This is for the meat and the rice cook fully.

After 15 minutes open the lid and mix rice and the meat thoroughly.
