PANDEMIC PAKORA | Eat Something Special at Home
Today afternoon I was so fancy to eat something spicy. I tough of many dished like chat, Gol-Gappy, samosa ect.
Then I finally decided to make “Pakora” in Pandemic at home. During the lockdown, when you are at home, bored, and stressed, Its obvious that you want to eat something special, easy to make with less effort !!!
Making “Pakora” is such a good experience that you will enjoy it.
It is actually easy task to make something nice in a short time.
Ingredients which are used are easily available at home somewhere in your kitchen cupboard. You do not need to go out to buy something special to start making ‘Pakora’ specially when you are in lock down due to pandemic.
Ingredients:
- Gram flour, 1 cup
- Onion 1 medium size – cut in small slices
- Potatoes 2 – peel and cut them like fries in small pieces
- Salt 1 tea spoon – or to your taste
- Red chili powder – add to your taste
- Dry coriander (if available) good for taste –1 table spoon
- Ginger and Garlic paste – 1 table spoon ( if you do not have it just mash ginger and garlic together to make a paste) – its not really necessary actually!!!
- Chat Masala (if available) – Add some of chat Masala if you have, it will taste very delicious
- 1 Egg – This is the most important in the process of making “Pakora”. It will make the “Pakora” very soft. Even If you will make some big size “Pakora” it will keep the “Pakora” soft from inside.
- Water 1 cup or as necessary to make a thick paste. Make sure the Gram floor paste is not very hard
- Add any other vegetable like beans, broccoli, peas, ect.
- Oil for deep frying – about 3 cups depend on ‘Karai’ Size
Method:
Mix all the ingredients (1 to 11) in a bowl. Add as necessary water to make the paste soft !!!
Heat the oil in a separate pot, preferably a ‘karahi’.
When the oil is heated enough, use a medium spoon to put the ready paste in the oil. Do it slowly otherwise the oil can spill out. Make as much as “Pakora” according to ‘Karahi’ size (usually 5 -6 pieces can fit)
Use a big spoon move the “Pakora” in the ‘Karahi’. Cook one side of “Pakora” about 3 minutes and then turn the side. You need to fry them until they get golden brown color. DONOT over cook.
When you see that they a golden brown and look crispy remove them from the oil and put them on a Kitchen Roll to drain the excess oil or use a Strainer Skimmer Spoon.
Taste the First cook and check if the taste is what are you expecting. You can add more salt, chili, chat masala, ect if necessary.
Fry the remaining material of Gram Floor and enjoy your ‘Pandemic Pakoras’.
Serve it with ketchup, hot sweet sauce, mayonnaise or tamarind sauce, and drink!!!
