Effective Hand Sanitizer
- Kills 99.9% of germs.
- Quick drying.
- Leaves hands soft and fresh.
Risks and safety
If you have sensitive skin, try to keep the amount of alcohol in hand sanitizer around 60-70% (as in this recipe) because a higher concentration may cause irritation.
Commercial hand sanitizers and homemade hand sanitizers with less than the recommended 60–95% alcohol may not kill all the pathogens that can cause infections, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Making hand sanitizer at home is not recommended because most people do not have the appropriate ingredients or tools to make it according to the WHO recommendations.
Without the right ingredients, homemade hand sanitizers may have no effect on the clinically relevant germs and may be dangerous.
Precautions
Don’t use homemade hand sanitizers on children’s skin as they may be more prone to use them improperly, leading to a greater risk of injury.
After using the hand sanitizer do not take your hand near fire because alcohol is explosive material so avoid it very strictly.
