Electrical Area Classification

This Standard shall be used for the electrical classification of areas in which
flammable gases or vapors are, or may be, present, in the air in quantities
sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures. Classification of new
facilities, or extensions/additions to existing facilities shall be performed using the Class I/Zone/Group method per API RP 505 and, for selected facilities as specified below, NFPA 70.
